How is the cumulative GPA calculated?

Semester GPA = the sum of (course grade value × credit hours) for the semester ÷ the semester's total hours. The cumulative GPA is worked out the same way for every course you have taken, passed or failed, so a course with more hours weighs more.

Universities available

We add universities one by one after reading their official instructions. If yours is not listed, pick the points or percentage system and enter each course's value as it appears on your transcript.

Common questions

How do I calculate my cumulative university GPA?

Multiply each course's grade value by its credit hours, add the results, and divide by the total hours. If you have a previous GPA, multiply it by your previous hours and add it before dividing.

What is the difference between semester and cumulative GPA?

The semester GPA covers one semester's courses only; the cumulative GPA covers every course you have taken since you joined the university.

Do letter values differ between universities?

Yes. For example A- is 3.75 at Amman Arab University and 3.67 at the University of Petra, and some universities use a percentage out of 100. That is why the calculator uses each university's official scale.

How does retaking a course affect my GPA?

At the universities listed here the higher mark counts when you retake a course, and its hours count once. So a retake raises your GPA if you score higher, without adding hours.

Do you keep my marks?

No. The results are worked out in your browser and your marks stay on your device. A shared calculation carries the marks inside the link itself and is not sent to our server.

Results are estimates for planning; your official transcript and your university's instructions are the final reference.
